It depends on how many rooms you want to cool or heat, and which features matter most to you. We install three popular Bosch models:

• Bosch Climate 3200i: a great value single split unit, ideal for bedrooms, home offices and living rooms
• Bosch Climate 7000i: Bosch's premium single split unit, with the highest efficiency, quietest running and advanced air purification
• Bosch Climate 5000 M: a multi split system that heats and cools up to five rooms from one outdoor unit

A single split system has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit, so it looks after one room. A multi split system connects several indoor units to a single outdoor unit, so you can cool or heat multiple rooms without a row of outdoor units on the side of your house.

Single split is usually the simplest and most cost-effective option if you only need one or two rooms covered. Multi split is ideal when you want air conditioning throughout the home, or when outside wall space is limited.

The Bosch Climate 5000 M can connect up to five indoor units to one outdoor unit. Outdoor units are available in a range of sizes, from 4.1kW to 12.5kW, and we match the outdoor unit to the number and size of rooms you want covered.

Yes. With a multi split system, each indoor unit has its own controls, so you can keep the bedroom cool at night while the living room stays warmer, or switch off rooms you are not using to save energy.

Not always. A multi split needs fewer outdoor units and less external pipework, which saves space and can reduce installation work. However, several single splits can sometimes be more efficient and mean that if one unit needs attention, the other rooms keep running.

We will talk you through both options honestly and quote for the one that suits your home best.

As a rough guide for single split units:

• 2.6kW: bedrooms and home offices up to around 25m²
• 3.5kW: living rooms and larger bedrooms up to around 35m²
• 5.3kW: open-plan spaces up to around 50m²
• 7kW (Climate 3200i only): very large rooms up to around 65m²

The right size also depends on insulation, glazing, ceiling height and how much sun the room gets. A unit that is too small will struggle on hot days, while one that is too large wastes energy, so we always confirm sizing during our free survey.

Yes. All three models are reversible systems, which means they can heat your home in winter as well as cool it in summer. They work as air-to-air heat pumps, making them an efficient way to top up your heating, especially in rooms like conservatories and garden offices.

Running costs depend on the size of the unit, how often you use it and your electricity tariff. All Bosch models use inverter technology, which adjusts the compressor speed to match demand instead of constantly switching on and off. This keeps energy use low.

• Climate 5000 M: rated A++ for cooling

The HomeCom Easy app also lets you monitor your energy use, so you can see exactly what your system is using.

No. Bosch indoor units are designed to run quietly. The Climate 7000i runs from just 19dB(A) and the Climate 3200i as low as 20dB(A) in Silent Mode, which is quieter than a whisper and ideal for bedrooms. We also position outdoor units carefully to keep noise away from your neighbours.

Yes. Bosch units include filters and ionisers that help reduce dust, pollen, bacteria and odours. The Climate 7000i goes further, with a cold catalyst filter, bio filter and advanced ioniser that remove up to 95% of bacteria and viruses, making it a great choice for allergy sufferers.

Yes. With the HomeCom Easy app you can switch your system on or off, change the temperature and set schedules from anywhere. The Climate 7000i and Climate 3200i also work with Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home for voice control.

Most single split air con installations are completed in a single day. Multi split systems take longer, typically one to three days depending on the number of rooms and the pipe runs involved.

We will give you a clear timescale before work starts and leave everything clean and tidy when we finish.

Most domestic air conditioning installations do not need planning permission, but there are exceptions, such as listed buildings, properties in conservation areas and some flats. We will check this for you as part of your survey.

Air conditioning systems contain refrigerant, so by law they must be installed by an F-Gas certified engineer. Our team is fully F-Gas certified and REFCOM registered, so your installation is safe, legal and eligible for the manufacturer's guarantee.

Bosch air conditioning comes with a manufacturer-backed guarantee of up to 5 years. To keep it valid:

• The system must be installed and commissioned by an F-Gas certified engineer
• The guarantee must be registered with Worcester Bosch
• The system must be serviced every year

We recommend an annual service. As well as keeping your guarantee valid, regular servicing keeps your system running efficiently, maintains good air quality and helps prevent costly breakdowns. We can remind you when your service is due.
